And So it Begins…

“Let’s start a business during a global pandemic,” said no sane person ever. It’s a good thing marketing professionals need a little bit of crazy in them to be successful.

My name is Sam Roberts, and I’m the Founder and CEO of the newly formed company, Hustle Marketing LLC. I wanted to chronicle this crazy ride I’m on and let you know how I got here and where I hope to go.

On July 31, 2020 (exactly two years to the date of my first day with my former company), I, like many people, was laid off due to the craziness that is the COVID-19 pandemic. It came as a major shock to me. I was performing well, had the analytics to back it up and was part of a great small but mighty team that worked well with each other. Unfortunately, COVID threw us all for a loop, which meant my position was eliminated.

The bright side? I realized this would finally be a kick in the butt I needed to start my own company and freelance full-time.

I’ve always had an entrepreneurial spirit. When I was little, instead of starting a standard Lemonade stand, I tapped my creativity and would sell anything from my stick-figure drawings, those “gimp” keychains, shrinky dinks, or whatever I could make around the house. Even at a young age, I wanted to provide people with something unique and sell “products” that I had fun making. That same spirit has always been in the back of my head, nagging me to pave my way.

Cue 2020, and I’m finally following my gut. It’ll sound cliche, but I really do love marketing and am a self-proclaimed marketing nerd. As you might have read in my first blog, I believe marketing is a recipe rather than a formula. Each company is different and has its’ own recipe for success, which makes it a fun puzzle on my end.

I’m having the time of my life working with new clients and helping them grow. One day, I hope to expand, but I’m excited to be at the beginning of a new, fulfilling journey for now.
